All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater
Publication Date: October 10th, 2017
Publisher: Scholastic Press
In the Colorado desert, there are saints and pilgrims coexisting together to give and receive miracles. The Soria family have been the saints of Bicho Raro for as long as anyone can remember. There’s Beatriz Soria, a girl without feelings; Daniel, the current saint of Bicho Raro; and Joaquin, who wants nothing more than to reach the larger world through his radio. The Sorias don’t interfere with the pilgrims and their miracles once the darkness is revealed, otherwise they fear the risk of bringing that darkness upon themselves. But things change when love interferes and the family must see the world for what it truly is.
I had an incredibly unique experience whilst reading All the Crooked Saints. I won’t lie, it was a hard book to get through. Stiefvater’s writing is utterly magical, but sometimes it was hard sift through it all to the meat and bones of the story. If you’re interested in an in-depth review, listen to the podcast review that I recorded with Dawn from Bang Bang Book Blog. We discussed a spoilers at the end, which can be found in the second podcast below. Happy listening!
